How to Search Criminal Dockets
Start a Pierce County criminal docket search with re:SearchGA for public Superior Court and State Court cases. Georgia Courts lists both Pierce courts as participants. A basic account is required. The official guide confirms Cases, Hearings, Advanced, Search By, Search, Reset, sorting, and Case Details controls, though the live endpoint blocked the research visit. Use only controls shown when you sign in.
Have the complete case number from a notice if possible. Pierce County does not publish one universal criminal case-number pattern. A party name, attorney, judicial officer, court, or case type may also narrow the result. Confirm the court and filing date before relying on a match.
- Register or sign in, choose Cases, and select the proper Pierce County court.
- Search the exact case number first, or use a party or attorney name.
- Open the linked case description and verify its court, number, and date.
- Read Filings and Hearings for the newest setting, order, plea, or disposition.
- Call the owning clerk when an event or document is missing.
Pierce Criminal Search Fields
The official re:SearchGA guide confirms several ways to narrow a Pierce County criminal docket. Party, case number, attorney, and judicial officer are Search By concepts. Advanced criteria may include case type, location, and filing details. The guide also documents the * wildcard for first and last names, plus sorting by newest filing date, oldest filing date, or case number.
| Control | Best use | Local caution |
|---|---|---|
| Case number | Most precise match | Copy the full number exactly |
| Party or attorney | When the number is unknown | Use more criteria for common names |
| Judicial officer | Narrowing a known assignment | Assignments can change |
| Sort By | Organizing result rows | An export is not certified |
A blank result is not proof that no Pierce County criminal docket exists. It may belong to Magistrate or municipal court, predate electronic coverage, or be restricted.
What a Criminal Docket Shows
A public Pierce County criminal docket may display the court and case number, filing date, case type, public party roles, counsel, judicial officer, and status. Its event list can include an indictment or accusation, warrant or first appearance, bond entry, arraignment, plea, motions, notices, hearings, resets, signed orders, disposition, sentence, or appeal. The portal may not expose every field in every case.
| Case number | The court identifier. Copy the exact case number from the notice. |
|---|---|
| Charge record | Charging instrument and classification, if publicly displayed. |
| Hearings | Setting type, date, time, courtroom, or judge when supplied. |
| Filings | Motions, notices, orders, pleas, and judgment documents. |
| Outcome | Disposition, sentence, or dismissal, subject to local labels. |
Pierce Criminal Filing Route
PeachCourt shows the filing-service login used for Pierce Superior and State courts, including email, password, registration, and password-recovery controls.
The image helps separate two tasks that are often confused. PeachCourt is the mandatory filing and document service for these courts, while re:SearchGA is the public case-search route. A person tracking a public case should not expect the PeachCourt login to act like a free county docket index.
Quick answer: Search public case events in re:SearchGA. Use PeachCourt when filing rules direct a party or lawyer to that service.
Stages on a Criminal Docket
Read a Pierce County criminal docket in date order, but give the newest entries the most weight. An indictment is a formal felony charging instrument. An accusation is commonly used for misdemeanor charging. Arraignment addresses the charge and plea. A motion is a request for a ruling, while the later signed order records what the judge decided. A continuance or reset moves a setting.
Docket flow: Charge Filed › Arraignment › Pretrial Settings › Plea or Trial › Disposition › Sentence
A disposition and a sentence may appear as separate events. Likewise, a free event row is not the same as the filed judgment. Open the linked filing when public, or request the court-stamped document from the Pierce County clerk.
Pierce Criminal Clerk Channels
The Pierce County Superior Court page identifies clerk duties and published fees for the court records held by Melissa Howard’s office.
For a Superior felony file, call the Clerk of Superior Court at 912-449-2020 or visit the first-floor counter at 3550 U.S. Highway 84 in Blackshear. Mail goes to P.O. Box 588, Blackshear, GA 31516. For State misdemeanor matters, Tonya Chancey’s published line is 912-807-0189. A plain copy costs $0.50 per page, and certification adds $5.
Before mailing payment, give the court, case number, document name or event date, copy type, return address, and contact details. The county does not publish a copy-order email, required payment form, or turnaround time.
Which Court Holds Criminal Dockets
Pierce Superior Court, part of the Waycross Judicial Circuit, holds felony case events. Pierce State Court holds misdemeanors and county traffic matters. Magistrate Court handles arrest and search warrants plus preliminary hearings, but it does not conduct jury trials. A preliminary event can therefore begin in Magistrate before a later prosecution moves through State or Superior Court.
Blackshear, Patterson, and Offerman municipal courts keep city ordinance and traffic matters within their own clerk channels. No verified public city docket portal was located. Juvenile Court follows a separate and restricted path. Match the case type to the court before searching, then use the office that owns that record.
When a Pierce Filing Is Missing
A missing Pierce County criminal filing has more than one possible cause. The document may not have been uploaded after an in-person filing. The image may be hidden because of security rules. An older record, especially material from before October 1, 2018, may require archive or paper research. The case may also belong to Magistrate, Juvenile, or a municipal court rather than the Superior or State search.
First verify the court and full case number. Next call 912-449-2020 for Superior or State records, or 912-807-0189 for the State misdemeanor and traffic channel. Ask about the specific event date and document title. Do not infer dismissal, conviction, or any other outcome from a missing PDF. The Pierce County criminal docket row and the filed order are different records.
Pierce Courthouse Record Visit
The Pierce County Sheriff explains courthouse locations, floors, and security screening for visitors who need an in-person record channel.
The courthouse view matters when re:SearchGA has no result, an older filing was never uploaded, or a certified criminal judgment is needed. Bring the full case number and a clear document description. Security screening applies. The Clerk of Superior Court counter is the correct local stop for Superior and State records, while Magistrate and municipal matters remain with their own court offices.
Fax at 912-449-2106 is published as a clerk contact channel, but the county does not say it accepts copy orders by fax. Confirm first. That prevents delay and protects any original paperwork.
Public Access and Sealed Criminal Dockets
Georgia court records are generally public, but public access does not mean every filed image appears online. Uniform Superior Court Rules 21 through 21.6 govern access limits, sealing, and protected identifiers. Juvenile files are generally restricted under O.C.G.A. §§15-11-704 and 15-11-708. Adoption, mental-health, sealed criminal, and other sensitive material may also be limited by role or court order.
Key rules: Uniform Superior Court Rule 21 requires a stated basis for limiting access, while Rule 21.6 addresses redaction and protected data.
Georgia juvenile access provisions place child-case files on a different route from adult criminal dockets.
If an event row is present but its PDF is hidden, the document may be restricted or simply not uploaded. Call 912-449-2020. The Georgia Open Records Act does not override a court seal or replace the court clerk’s custody process.
